Tanaka S&W M49 Bodyguard 3" Heavyweight Version 2 Model Gun Complete

Based on S&W's Chief Special, a model with the hammer covered to prevent it from catching on clothing or other objects was developed for self-defense use and sold to the public under the name "Bodyguard.
Unlike the double-action-only "Sentinel" model, which completely covered the hammer, this model had the hammer tip exposed and could also be single-action.
In the early years, only a lightweight aluminum-framed version (later the M38 Bodyguard Airweight) was available, but a steel-framed version was added to the lineup, which was designated the "M49 Bodyguard.
Basically, the 2-inch barrel model comes to mind, but a 3-inch barrel model also existed.
Although portability was sacrificed and the overall balance was lost, the use of a 1-inch longer barrel in combination with a single action was expected to improve accuracy.
An additional advantage over the 2-inch model was the ability to use a longer ejector rod, which ensured that .38 Special ammunition could be reliably ejected.
The actual 3-inch model was produced in very small numbers and has become a premium model.

The 3-inch model of the M49 Bodyguard is now available as a model gun.
This is the first model in the Tanaka lineup.
As a model gun, it is the latest version of the Tanaka J-frame type model gun, Version.2, which operates smoothly and has been modified with realistic engraving.
